Closing Remarks / Symposium Summary

Mr. Osamu Tsukamoto

President, JCOAL / Chairman of Executive Committee for Clean Coal Day 2021
Professional Highlights:
Mr. Tsukamoto, originally a mining engineer and ex-government official, has been keenly developing his capacity and knowledge throughout his career with METI where he served for 33 years in policy formulation on quite a wide range of subjects-from energy, industry to environment, while he assumed a series of important positions. In 2010, he chose an early retirement to add a new dimension to his career through teaching as Specially-appointed Professor at the University of Tokyo, Keio University, and Tokyo University of Science, etc. and also serving as a high-level advisor for one of the most prominent companies of electric works in Japan.

It is natural that the current focus of his interest is venture business support, regional development and support of manufacturing industry, apart from advocacy of clean coal technology that constitutes one of the demanding tasks he has to bear as the leader of Japan Coal Energy Center (JCOAL), where he made a “come back” to the world of clean coal after 12 years since he served as Director of Coal Division, METI.
